SERVICE UPDATE

Strength in Community

What an amazing community we live in! In the face of such adversity, people have come together to support each other. They haven't relied on government or agencies to provide immediate support, people have taken things into their own hands and reached out to friends, neighbours and local organisations for practical and much needed assistance. As devastating as these bushfires have been, it is wonderful to know that we can count on our community to respond in a crisis. We have a long road to recovery but we have proved that so much can be achieved if we work together as one community.

We recognise that the bushfires and recent rain events have been challenging for many of our clients, their families and our team. A number of families have lost their homes or suffered damage to property, and the trauma associated by events like these can be long lasting. If you, or your family need support during this time, please reach out to your Muddy Puddles key contact, or call the office on 4472 6939 (also have a read of our Blog about recognising trauma).

At the end of last year, we launched our major fundraising raffle to be drawn in April 2020. After the recent bushfires, the Muddy Puddles fundraising committee and team were keen to find a way to give back to our local community and thank our local RFS brigades for their tireless work over the past months. We all agreed a great way for us to show our thanks is to donate 50% of the profit from our raffle to our local RFS brigades. You will see our Volunteers selling tickets at various locations throughout the Shire.

Next Tuesday, 25 February, our Caring for Carers group returns. This month we welcome special guest, Lisa Cassar to the group. Lisa is a psychologist in the Muddy Puddles team and is available to talk, listen and offer information to anyone interested. The group is free for parents and carers and offers a chance to meet some new people who 'get it'. Free childcare can also be arranged, please call the office for details.
