Changes to the NDIS Price Guide from 1 July

The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has released an updated NDIS Price Guide and Support Catalogue 2019-20, effective 1 July 2019.  To read about these changes please visit the NDIS website at

As a result of these changes, we will be updating our fee schedule and we will communicate this to our clients on Monday.
Enrol now for Term 3 Group Programs

We are currently taking enrolments for group capacity building programs in Term 3. These groups have limited spaces and rely on minimum numbers to go ahead. Get in quick!
Fundraising at Bunnings

Another Bunnings BBQ was organised by our dedicated Fundraisers in April. We had a great response from our local community happy to support program delivery at Muddy Puddles. We would not be able to hold these important fundraising events without our wonderful volunteers who give up their time to plan and facilitate these events. Also a big thank you must go to Mark Hood from Finer Foods who donated a huge amount of sausages for the day. We appreciate his support and encourage our community to visit his shop in the Batemans Bay industrial estate.

Volunteer profile - Helen Daley

Helen is relatively new to Batemans Bay having moved here from Canberra where she lived with her husband Jim for 48 years working and raising their family.  Helen has a background in paediatric nursing and midwifery and has, for many years, volunteered for various organisations.
On moving to the Eurobodalla Shire she explored opportunities and organisations that would benefit from her expertise. This search resulted in her volunteering with Muddy Puddles as well as Maranatha and the Xmas Angels.

Helen became interested in Muddy puddles about two years ago when she was attending a fundraising event and was impressed by the presentation given by Cate McMath, our CEO.  This, and her genuine commitment and passion in helping children and families, prompted her to enrol as a volunteer.
Her role within the organisation varies but predominantly Helen assists with a number of programs such as Gourmet, the therapeutic cooking program, which also involves things like safety in the kitchen and hygiene. Helen also frequently assists and attends fundraising events and is always willing to lend a hand.

“I get a lot of fun out of working with the children. I enjoy their sense of humour and their upfront communication style. My grandchildren are in the United States so not close enough for me to mother, smother or share experiences,” she said with a smile but a small hint of sadness. “So being able to do this with other children is an absolute delight.”

Volunteering is not all about giving to others as Helen states it gets her out and about, meeting new people, building friendships and connections within the community. “There is no doubt that I get just as much out of volunteering as I do in giving.”

For anyone who has time on their hands or feels that they want to contribute to their local community, explore the volunteering opportunities across the shire. Find an organisation or cause that suits you and give it a shot.
Our very own Hero

During National Volunteer Week Tina Philip had the pleasure of attending the Eurobodalla Local Heroes Awards which was held in the magical setting of the Botanic Gardens. There were 31 worthy nominations from across the Shire who were all acknowledged for their contributions to various organisations and causes.

Muddy Puddles' very own “hero” Bernie Basevi, was one of the finalists. Bernie was acknowledged for his contributions not only to Muddy Puddles but also St Bernard’s Primary School and Parish as well as several other organisations. Bernie is an amazing asset as he continues to give tirelessly and with good humour to our community. Congratulations Bernie.
