International Day of People with Disability: A Muddy Puddles film premier event

On the 3 December 50+ guests attended Batemans Bay library to celebrate International Day of People with Disability: A Muddy Puddles film premier event.
The International day was recognised in style with a red carpet, balloons and feather boas guiding the crowds to the big screen that would be transformed into a spectacular premier.

The evening was about ABILITY and was an amazing opportunity for the young people at Muddy Puddles to show off their hard work to friends, family and the local community. Three of the young people made their films in the group and 1-1 drama therapy programs. One young person made her film with the support of a Muddy Puddles support person and one of the films was made by Andrew Radford who has been working at the Batemans Bay Library for 16 years. Andrew is living with autism and is a passionate and proud self-advocate. It was Andrew's suggestion that the Library partner with Muddy Puddles to recognise this important day. Andrew knows firsthand the life changing impact that early intervention programs have in shaping the person you grow up to become. He has become an ambassador for Muddy Puddles and will co-facilitate a youth advocacy committee skill building group in 2019.
Andrew opened the evening with a heartfelt message, encouraging the young people to never give up, assuring them that their dreams are never out of reach. The evening involved a film screening followed by an engaging Q&A with the films creators. Catering was provided by the incredibly talented Muddy Puddles cooking group. The  group served their delicious food and showcased their hard work behind the scenes to make the evening a success. And wow was it scrumptious!
The evening was nothing short of awe-inspiring. Congratulations to all the young people involved and we look forward to your creations in 2019.
