For the longest time, I gave myself an excuse to not try things. It was easy. I only had to tell myself "I’m not the kind of person who does [insert awesome thing here]." Then I wouldn’t even have to try.
"I’m not the kind of person who runs marathons” meant I could stay in my PJs and eat junk food.
“I’m not the kind of person who can write” meant I could watch Netflix instead of sitting down to write.
Then I asked a simple question: "How do I know?"
I made myself try things before I disregarded them.
Sometimes I find out I’m really not the kind of person who does... whatever it is. But more often than not, I surprise myself.
So next time you think "I’m not the kind of person who [insert amazing thing here]," ask yourself: How do I know?
