Supporting the UW AROTC Program
As you know, the UW Army ROTC program has a long and rich history on campus. Here's a brief snapshot:
  • Since 1862, UW has had a Military Department with a Corps of Cadets.
  • In 1886, the rare American Flag seen above was presented to Cadet Captain Charles Kinnear, the namesake of our alumni foundation as well as the UW Army ROTC battalion.
  • ROTC began in 1916 and UW has since commissioned over 5,000 officers that have served our nation honorably since World War I.
The UW Army ROTC program is one of the oldest and best in the country. However, support is needed for it to reach its true potential. Better funding would help:
  • Recruit and support the best cadets
  • Provide additional professional and leadership development opportunities
  • Connect alumni
  • Showcase UW Army ROTC history
