AustCham Korea - October / November 2016 Newsletter

Message from the Chair

As another year is speeding away I hope you are taking time to enjoy the Autumn season and all Seoul has to offer. AustCham would like to thank all the attendees after receiving positive feedback for our end of September and October events, particularly for our highly successful 2016 Commonwealth Chambers' Networking Event held at the Grand Hyatt with a record turnout.

Following on from this success, we are pleased to have more exciting events on offer for you. On the 10th of November we will have the honour of being hosted by Ravi Kewalram, Chargé D'affaires of Australian Embassy, for our Sponsors' Dinner. We will also have our November DBIK with Brenton Goldsworthy (the Minister-Counsellor of Economic and Senior Treasury Representative in Australian Embassy, Japan) on 29th of November focusing on North-East Asian economics. Make sure to sign up before they fill up!

37th AKBC-KABC Joint Meeting in Seoul
AustCham was proud to be a Silver Sponsor of the recent 37th AKBC-KABC Joint Meeting held on the 17th / 18th of October in Seoul. AustCham Korea Chair Graham Dodds took the opportunity to highlight the important role AustCham plays in the Australia / Korea business relationship to the visiting Australian and local Korean delegates. Graham also noted the practical assistance AustCham provides to Australian businesses operating in Korea. It was a very successful 37th Joint Meeting attended by the Hon Mark Vaile AO (Chair AKBC and Former Australian Deputy Prime Minister), Oh-Joon Kwon (Chair KABC and CEO POSCO) and Ravi Kewalram (Australian Charge D’Affaires to the Republic of Korea). The Meeting covered various topics including opportunities for further cooperation between Korea and Australia.

2016 Commonwealth Chambers'
Networking Event
The 2016 Commonwealth Chambers' Networking Event was a great opportunity to enjoy food, drinks and networking in a beautiful location. It was a particularly successful event with over 270 attendees. Many new connections were made and due to our popular raffle draw over 1.8 million Korean Won was raised for charity. Congratulations to all of the winners and thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and to our numerous generous sponsors. The Australian Chamber was delighted to host the event this year and wishes to thank the participating Commonwealth Chambers: British, Canadian, Indian, New Zealand and South African.
