Next Month: Transition!

Transition week will be here before we know it!  This is the week where fresh produce growers change growing regions to continue year-round supply.  This is already a crazy time but it looks that we are adding in more challenges for the industry... here's what is going on:

- moving people and equipment over 500 miles within a week
-order disruption from moving facilities
-post pandemic market making plantings difficult to plan
-supply chain shortages
-high truck charges

Needless to say, this is already a crazy time for produce and we are in an unprecedented time with supply chain. We are grateful for your support and patience as the industry makes our move and we will do our best to keep the supply chain going strong!

The Families that Follow the Lettuce

When I was a kid, I had a bulletin board above my desk with all the mementos that were important to an 11-year-old. I distinctly remember two postcards from my dad that he sent to me when he was away for months before our family moved to another state.  It was the only time there was that length of absence for our family, and once we moved it was over.  However, this is something that happens to families regularly in the produce industry when the growing regions change from California and Arizona and vice versa causing some families to travel together and other families to be separated until the next time.  These major moves happen not just once in a career, as the case for my family, but twice every single year.
