Being mindful about daylight saving time
Football fans know that Any Given Sunday is a good Sunday, especially from Labor Day to February. Yet Sunday, November 3rd, is one of the most important Sundays of the year. It’s the date that sees most of us switch to Daylight Saving Time as part of our “fall back, spring forward” routine each year. See why it matters to all of us in transportation, read here.
This holiday season, remember that cargo at rest is cargo at risk
Protecting your business against theft is important at any time of year, but none more so than this holiday season between Thanksgiving and New Year’s. That’s when cargo at rest tends to become cargo at risk. And thieves will make it cargo that’s stolen, especially if you make it easy on them. Some tips here.
Vetting your motor carriers is essential due diligence
Our in-house Claims Department here at PFA Transportation Insurance & Surety Services has first-hand knowledge of the pitfalls freight brokers face in those cases when motor carriers are hired without appropriate vetting. It’s a nightmare you can and should avoid! Click here.
HEADS UP: 2020 Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) period is delayed
The start of the 2020 UCR Registration period is delayed until further notice while the FMCSA completes its rulemaking process on fee levels for next year. A notice of proposed rulemaking was published in the Federal Register on August 27th. Once the final rulemaking is published and UCR fees are established for 2020, the UCR Board of Directors will recommend that states delay enforcement for three months from the start of the registration period. Planning for bad weather
In many parts of the country, winter weather means more planning and contingencies to get deliveries done. Holidays add travelers, delays and unforeseen challenges to freight schedules. As they say, failing to plan is planning to fail.
