The 2017-2018 lottery is open now until February 15th. 
Students currently enrolled at Lakeview Academy DO NOT need to apply for the lottery.
Siblings not currently attending WILL need to apply for the lottery.

Hello 5th - 9th Graders! 
Auditions for our Spring Drama Club show are the 17th - 19th of January.  Sign-ups are outside Ms. Howell's door.  We are doing Fiddler on the Roof and it is going to be fabulous!!  We'd love to see lots of you join Drama Club and participate in this incredible show.  Sign up today!
Lakeview Academy’s art department is hosting an adult paint night
Friday, February 10th

Experience a new kind of night out!
 We invite you to create over refreshments while being guided by Lakeview Academy’s Art teachers. Grab a date or friend and a sense of humor and spend two hours laughing, socializing and flexing your creative muscles.
There’s no experience necessary and we’ll provide all the supplies.

Outdoor Recess
It's getting COLD! Please send warm clothing for students to wear outside.

**If the temp is below 20 degrees (taking into account the wind chill) students will remain indoors.

**If it is raining, students will remain indoors  (However, if it is sprinkling they will go out unless our recess aides report it is getting too wet.)

**If the air quality is poor students will remain indoors. We follow the guidelines by the state. You can see more at:

          Lakeview Academy’s newest spaceship simulator, “Apollo” is now open on Wednesdays from 3pm-10pm and Saturdays from 10am-10pm. LUNCH BALANCES:

Please log in to your SIS/Aspire account and periodically check your students lunch balances. The lunchroom managers will be stamping students hands when they have a negative balance. Please email melhalta@lakeview-academy.com with any questions.

Lakeview Academy is excited to have the Girls on the Run Program for all 4th, 5th, and 6th grade Girls. This National program is celebrating its 10th year and is a great running program that integrates character building skills, team work, and self-value activities with running. We will meet every Monday and Wednesday from 3:15-4:15 PM starting Monday, February 20. Go to www.girlsontherunutah.org  to register your daughter.

SIS/Aspire is our student information system. All parents need to set up an account to track grades/homework/add emergency contacts/update info.

Follow the instructions listed in the link below and earn one hour of volunteer time per family.

PALS 1
Volunteers at PALS I will have a significant level of interaction with students, yet will still be supervised by the classroom teacher. Their main responsibilities are to assist with small group instruction in math, language arts or any of the additional core subjects as needed. Volunteers at this level would be asked to go through some basic training.
 
PALS 2
Volunteers at PALS II  will have the greatest interaction with students and could potentially be left unsupervised with students. However, they will not be permitted at any time to be alone with any one student. More than one student or another teacher must be in close proximity (for instance, the volunteer may work with a student in the hall -- a public thoroughfare -- with the classroom door remaining open). They could provide the same assistance as a Level One volunteer. Yet the main responsibilities of these volunteers include: after school tutoring, working with students in class who need individual assistance, substitute teaching, and chaperoning field trips. Training would be required for volunteers at this level. 
Volunteers at this level will be required to be fingerprinted and have a background check in accordance with Utah Law 53A-3-410. Volunteers whose background check shows convictions for any class A misdemeanor or felony, including pleas in abeyance and diversion agreements(or the equivalent from another state) will not be permitted to be a PALS Two volunteer however; they may be allowed to be a PALS One volunteer. These background checks must be done every four years at the volunteer’s expense. Complete detailed information regarding these procedures is available upon request.

There have been a few minor changes to the dress code. Please review while purchasing school uniforms.
Dress Code
Parenting with Love and Logic at Saratoga Springs Library:
 This Saturday, January 14 and January 21 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. A two session course featuring curriculum from Parenting the Love and Logic Way.  
 
Please plan on attending all of the sessions. All class attendees must be at least 18 years old. Lunch will be served! If you have questions or need help registering, email Megan Thorley at (602) 803-0053 or megan.thorley@usu. edu.

Carson Smith Special Needs Scholarship (CSS)

School districts and charter schools are required by Utah Law, 53A1a-704(10), to inform parents of students with IEPs enrolled in public schools, of the availability of a scholarship to attend a private school through the Carson Smith Scholarship Program.
  
The Carson Smith Special Needs Scholarship provides tuition assistance for eligible special needs students with a current IEP.
