Dear LVA families,
**The survey will be open for one more week. If you haven't had a chance to complete the survey please take a minute to do so. We've only had about 8% of families take the survey. We need at least 30%. Thank you!**

This year Lakeview Academy will be visited by AdvancEd regarding our 5 year Accreditation review.  As part of this process we offer a climate survey to all parents, staff and students (grades 4-9).  The results of this survey will help us in setting goals and measuring successes.  Please take a few minutes to complete the survey for your family.  You can click the link below or go to our website to access the survey.  On the website, a link can be found in the announcement section on the side bar.  Thanks for all you do to continue to support LVA in reaching our goal to help students develop a love for learning and becoming more Capable, Confident and able to Contribute in society.

Winter 2017

Lakeview Academy's ski/snowboard program will run for 6 consecutive weeks in 2017 and will take place on January 6, 13, 20, 27, February 3 and 10. The lessons will begin at approximately 4:15, and the lesson will end at 6:15.
The cost of the ski program is $120.00 ($20.00 per student per day) for students ages 8 and up.  Ski passes are non-transferrable.  Ski and Snowboard rentals, which include boots, poles, skis, or snowboards, can be rented from Brighton for $84 ($14.00 per day).  Children 7 and under may get a free lift pass with a paying adult but they CANNOT participate in lessons.  Lessons are only open to current Lakeview Academy students.  Parents, siblings not attending Lakeview, and others friends and relatives of Lakeview students may purchase lift tickets corresponding to the nights ski club is held through the Friends of Lakeview online link (Brighton will provide us the Friends of Lakeview link in November.  Cost will be 150.00 for Friends of Lakeview ).
Students and parents are responsible for arranging their own transportation up to Brighton Ski Resort.

Usage Fee: $0.00
Background check fee for volunteers/employees: $37.00
Please schedule an appointment
Hours: Monday-Thursday: 8:30am-2pm
Volunteers at PALS I will have a significant level of interaction with students, yet will still be supervised by the classroom teacher. Their main responsibilities are to assist with small group instruction in math, language arts or any of the additional core subjects as needed. Volunteers at this level would be asked to go through some basic training.
Volunteers at PALS II  will have the greatest interaction with students and could potentially be left unsupervised with students. However, they will not be permitted at any time to be alone with any one student. More than one student or another teacher must be in close proximity (for instance, the volunteer may work with a student in the hall -- a public thoroughfare -- with the classroom door remaining open). They could provide the same assistance as a Level One volunteer. Yet the main responsibilities of these volunteers include: after school tutoring, working with students in class who need individual assistance, substitute teaching, and chaperoning field trips. Training would be required for volunteers at this level.
Volunteers at this level will be required to be fingerprinted and have a background check in accordance with Utah Law 53A-3-410. Volunteers whose background check shows convictions for any class A misdemeanor or felony, including pleas in abeyance and diversion agreements(or the equivalent from another state) will not be permitted to be a PALS Two volunteer however; they may be allowed to be a PALS One volunteer. These background checks must be done every four years at the volunteer’s expense. Complete detailed information regarding these procedures is available upon request.
