special reminder edition - November 2018

November 15th - register online or at the door

From dreams to reality - how Madison's newest cohousing community made it happen - Nov. 15th

We rarely send any extra communications, but we want to make sure you (and anyone you know who's interested) is reminded about this great opportunity.

Let's all give a warm welcome to three people from Arboretum Cohousing in Madison, WI-- Janet Murphy, Janet Kelly and Karen Ecklund--who'll share their stories about how they and their fellow cohousers recently built their community and moved in.

Thurs., Nov. 15, 2018. Register online here, or register at the door.

We're looking forward to seeing you there!

Arboretum is an example of sustainable urban community living. We'll hear how they got land close to the city center, enlarged their circle of founders, and other informative experiences. Bring your questions!

Join us for this TCCN quarterly presentation, Q & A session, and (optional) potluck reception beforehand where you can mingle and chat with the guests and other attendees informally.

Schedule for the evening:

  • Mingle at 5:30 pm
  • Optional potluck dinner at 6:00 pm. Please bring a dish to pass and join us if you wish.
  • Program starts around 7:00 pm.

Cost for the program: $8.00.
All are welcome! Register now.

Location
Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church
420 S Cedar Lake Rd,
Minneapolis, MN.

Details and registration

This is Twin Cities Cohousing Network's quarterly presentation on topics of interest to our broader community. Optional potluck--if you'd like to eat supper with the group, please bring a dish to share. An ingredient list for your dish also would be helpful.

TCCN now on GiveMN.org -
Exciting & easy new way to support Twin Cities Cohousing Network

Not only are we meeting on Thurs., Nov. 15, that day also is Give to the Max Day 2018 here in Minnesota...a day when your small gift can help Twin Cities Cohousing Network access special bonus random grants from GiveMN.org.

Please open your hearts and pocketbooks for local organizations working at the forefront of making our communities better, including Twin Cities Cohousing Network. You also can simply "like" our profile on our GiveMN.org page.

This year, it's possible to set up your GiveToTheMax Day (GTTM) donation in advance. Please consider a gift--large or small--to help fund our all-volunteer collective work to educate about and facilitate more cohousing communities forming in the Twin Cities. Amplify the power of information and grassroots connection.

Various bonuses can be won by nonprofit organizations whose donors contribute during the GTTM Day campaign. You may contribute as little as $10 through the GiveMN.org website, which then gives our organization a chance to access an hourly bonus donation. For those who are able, larger gifts are appreciated, of course, too.

The GiveMN.org organization has vastly upgraded its interface over the last couple of years.  Try it out - minimum donation is $10.

Thank you!

Cohousing in the media

Our friends at Monterey Cohousing were featured in this tpt REWIRE segment.

Secured:  501c3 nonprofit status

Through persistent effort by the board, Twin Cities Cohousing Network was approved for and received 501c3 status from the IRS.

This opens up many doors for the organization. We hope you'll continue to send us your ideas for further developing Twin Cities Cohousing Network to fulfill the vision you have for cohousing here...as a place for you or your family to live, as well as an option among housing choices available for all.

Communications co-learning group - websites, emails, social media

Would you like an informal ongoing learning group to explore WordPress websites, formatted emails using MailChimp, and social media such as Facebook and Twitter? Have an interest in video? You're invited to participate in a series of loosely structured co-learning sessions organized by the Communications Circle. Share what we each know, and explore resources for what we don't.

Starting in February. Let us know your background and interests in an email to twincities [at] cohousing [dot] org and we'll put you on the Doodle poll list to set up our initial meeting.

Deadline for next TCCN News

If you have an idea for TCCN News, or are interested in submitting an article for consideration, please contact us at twincities@cohousing.org. Deadline for the next issue is November 16. At this time, only editorial content is published. Ads are not accepted.

Items are selected according to Twin Cities Cohousing Network's mission and the communication circle's guidelines, and may be refused or edited. Ideally, an item would be 50-80 words in length sent as a plain text file or in the body of an email message, and include an image (photo) for which you have copyright ownership or written permission (license) to use.

Please include a contact name, email and/or phone number so we can reach you with any questions, and also let us know if those or other contact means (e.g., Twitter handle) can be published with your piece in case a reader wishes to get more information.
