Do I need a 'Groupon' to get affordable cohousing?

Many people wonder if affordable cohousing in an unreachable ideal. Barbara Baliey, Partnership for Affordable Cohousing, is coming up from Iowa to talk with us on Sept. 19th about why and how it is feasible.

Barbara recently retired from The Housing Fellowship, a non-profit affordable housing developer, where she worked first as an independent accounting professional, and then as the finance manager. She worked in the fields of non-profit business and financial management for more than 35 years, and is certified by the National Development Council as a Housing Development Finance Professional. Barbara lives in Prairie Hill Cohousing a community that she helped found in Iowa City, IA.

Register to attend and engage with our guest speaker as she provides ideas for bringing cohousing within reach of people with modest means. We hope you will contribute some of your own ideas and questions to the discussion following the presentation.

  • Clean up 8:30-9:00 pm

Those of you who have attended TCCN events over the last couple of years will recognize St Francis Cabrini Church as a place where TCCN held events before. The meeting space we've been using at Bryn Mawr Church is undergoing repairs, so we cannot meet there for several months.

Core group news

Bassett Creek Cohousing has been presenting a series of speakers at Southdale Library this summer. Bassett Creek is currently taking applications from interested individuals and families who would like to be involved in building and moving into energy-efficient cohousing that is accessible to transit in either Minneapolis or St Paul. For more information, see Bassett Creek's website.

Monterey Cohousing is in the process of assessing feasibility of an expansion. They are having a tour with Q&A on Sun., Aug. 18, 2019 from 2:00 - 3:00 pm. Reservations are required.
