Women Empowerment + BFI

What Your Contributions Have Accomplished

One of our Burundian WONDER WOMEN working with BFI is Odette. She, along with Michella, Esperance and Estella are very active in our Women’s Empowerment Clubs. We recently reached out to our donors asking for funding for a training trip to Rwanda for these women. Their trip included sessions at the GASHORA GIRLS ACADEMY (GGAST), a school that partners with local and international institutions in providing superior education for girls in farming, technology, community involvement and leadership, NEW EXPLORERS GIRLS ACADEMY, a private girl’s school specializing in STEM, and MWENDO SCHOOL, a remote primary school. On this trip, these women were taught how available technology can be used to support and improve the farming activities already in place in Burundi...

The next CRITICAL step in this process is to fund the purchase of phones, computers and software so that this important work can continue. Thank you for your generosity! Read more about Odette, Michella, Esperance, and Estelle's accomplishments here.

A Father's Impact

Building The Next Generation of Leaders

Meet Karorero, BFI in country Co-President and new father!
As one of the many youth in Burundi, Karorero struggled with having his voice heard in a country were elders take precedence. But thanks to his patience and wisdom, Karorero has become an inspirational leader to all.

Thanks to Karorero and our in country team, BFI is able to educate the youth of Burundi and empower the next generation to become self sustainable and work toward ending extreme poverty throughout Burundi!

Books For Burundi.

Blessings For Bookworms

BFI has partnered with Mike & Terry Meaney of the San Diego Book Project and the San Diego Downtown Rotary Club to ship 5,000 books to Burundi. The children's books will serve BFI's 8,000 children across Burundi. Donated dictionaries will assist some of BFI's 33,000 students clamoring to attain a higher level of English learning.

BFI is in need of:
-Children's board books
-Pre-K books
-Reading games
-Creative Aids for beginner level English learners

Do you have books you'd like to donate? Bring them on
