Canadian sculptor Timothy Schmalz spoke to reporters in Rome May 27, 2022, to present the installation of his latest piece, "Life Monument," a bronze and steel sculpture of Mary and the unborn Jesus in her womb. The 8-foot tall sculpture is permanently installed in the center of Rome at the Church of San Marcello al Corso. A much larger replica will be installed in Washington at an unspecified date after it completes a small tour of the United States.
