The Village of Alagayapalem

Every morning at 8:00am, an old bus makes its rounds through the muddy streets of the village of Alagayapalem. The sun has been up for hours, but the humidity and mugginess of the autumn rainy season makes it feel as though the skies should be covered in clouds. On days like today, before CCDC came to the village, children would be playing in the muddy streets, waiting for their parents to return from work. And yet, thanks to CCDC, children wait at bus stops all around the village, and will be attending school all day, before returning to Alagayapalem's Covenant Child Development Center in the evening.
When their studies are complete, the students play games, like Musical Chairs or Kabaddi, an activity similar to Freeze Tag. Just a few days ago, the students participated in a reenactment of the story of the Prodigal Son, strengthening their English skills and giving them confidence to speak in front of people. They were also given a lesson in staying healthy through Ongole's rainy reason, which commonly spreads disease and sickness through the village.

As the quarter winds down and Christmas approaches, Alagayapalem's students will study diligently for their final exams, and in the new year, will transition into their new classes!

Thanks to CCDC, these children, who were once at risk of abuse, sickness, malnourishment, and poverty, are now safe, healthy, well-fed, and rich with the blessing of education. This Christmas, Alagayapalem thanks you, and wishes you a Happy New Year! We are so grateful to you.
