CCDC and India’s National Lockdown – An Update for You
Hello CCDC Partner,
While the more developed world has been dealing with COVID-19 in an urgent manner, with cases on the rise dramatically since March, the developing world has had more time to prepare.
We who are invested in and praying for these Indian village church families are so thankful for India’s extra time to prepare.
India has extended their mandatory lockdown until the 3rd of May, making it a six-week period in total. While the number of cases in India are still low relative to other countries, everyone remains highly concerned that the onset and transmission on a massive scale in countries like India has simply been delayed.
Please be praying for these children and the villages of Covenant Child
Development Centers. For many families, this lockdown means six weeks of no wages. And food is not always readily available. There is also uncertainty of whether medicine or masks are going to be available. Yet CCDC staff and pastors persist in helping the families under their care.
CCDC’s Emergency Assistance
In times like these, this work of helping Indian village families both physically and spiritually is more important than ever. The national lockdown has put many families in an impossible situation: no work, no pay, and potential for catastrophic illness.
It is CCDC’s mission to see that all of our children and families are fed and taken care of during this time:
- Local pastors providing bags of vegetables and rice to families.
- Tutors helping with homework and Biblical teaching over the phone, as the children stay in their houses.
- Pastors praying with the children and their families over the phone.
- CCDC Administration using WhatsApp to distribute health-related tips and updates about the virus.
