An update on COVID-19 from CCDC India:

Hi CCDC Partner,

From all of us at Covenant Child Development Centers, we want to thank you for your support and prayers for the many children, families and villages seeking a new and better life through the leadership of the local pastor and church community.  We’ve come so far in such a short few years as a ministry impacting hundreds in villages throughout Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, India.

As a partner for Covenant Child Development Centers, we wanted to pass along an update on how India is doing in tackling COVID-19.  We trust that you and yours are making good decisions and taking necessary precautions and keeping your eyes on Jesus in the midst of crisis that can turn to fear if we are not prayerful.
Remember that despite all of the chaos and brokenness that seems to engulf our world, the Lord is King above all, even above a deadly pandemic. It is so easy, friends, to turn to anxiety and fear -- for ourselves and for others. In Psalm 9:9-10, David writes a song of praise and thanksgiving:

And Yahweh will be a stronghold for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of distress.
And those who know Your name will trust in You.
for you do not forsake those who seek you, O Yahweh.

For the last week and a half, all schools in India have been closed, just as in many countries around the world. On Sunday, March 22nd, the government ordered a 14-hour experimental lockdown as they consider the ways in which the country can work to contain the virus. Even though India has only 450 diagnosed cases of Coronavirus, it would be foolish to assume the number will stay so low in such a densely populated country. These actions are commendable – such a virus would wreak havoc throughout India without strategic containment measures. CCDC is very grateful for the government’s earnestness in combatting this virus.
In light of these measures, we are encouraging our CCDC pastors, staff, volunteers, and village church members to use this time as a way to share the beauty of the Gospel with their communities. We have urged our churches to suggest that everyone prayerfully consider the role Christ is calling them to play throughout this crisis. And of course, it is our prayer that after this season, things will return to a more normal routine, which for our CCDC kids means schooling, church attendance, playing, laughing, learning and growing along with their families in this unique village setting.

Your support and belief in these families is now more important than ever as these families are staying at home and for so many of them unable to work or have any type of regular income.

Your support usually sustains education and the future for these children but under these circumstances, your generosity supports whole families who are just trying to make it from one day to the next.
Thank you for your prayers and generosity for CCDC at this time as we endure together this unprecedented time for the world.

We are so grateful for you, and we pray for you always!
