Early Ministry Institute
Program Review Surveys
DEAR Friend <<Last Name>> ,
For more than 25 years, Early Ministry Institute (EMI), has been providing critical guidance and support for pastors. Each year the participants gather for a week-long residency at the Stony Point Center. They meet all together in plenary for in workshops and worship, and in year-cohort groups which are facilitated by experienced clergy and ruling elders. “Participants bring their successes, their struggles, their questions, their knowledge, their very selves to EMI to share and build one another up in their capacity to minister to God’s people” (EMI Guide Book 2014).
Earlier this year, the Synod's Mission and Ministries Commission formed a review team for the Synod Early Ministry Institute. The purpose of the review is to determine how the Synod can best support pastor and CREs in the EMI program, given the constantly changing landscape of ministry. There has not been a thorough evaluation of the program for several years, which is why we are requesting your help.
The review team, which is comprised of two Mission and Ministries Commissioners, three EMI Planning Team Members, one Presbytery Leaders, and one EMI Alum; has developed surveys to gather feedback from, past participants, eligible non-participants, and EMI cohort leaders, as part of the review process. If you have participated in the EMI program at any time in the past, if you were invited to attend, but decided not to attend, or if you acted as a cohort leader for the program, please take a few moments to complete the appropriate survey, linked below by September 15.
Thank you for helping us with this effort.
Joy and Peace,
The EMI Review Team
