SPOTLIGHT

SPOTLIGHT: MAGGIE LOURASH

Congratulations to Maggie for getting her first job as a classroom assistant at Ducky Day Care in Monticello! Through the Employment Discovery process, Maggie shared two of her great loves: children and helping others. This job connects her with both! When she's at work, she interacts with the children and supports the teachers during both playtime and snack time. The children enjoy spending time with Maggie and she's great with them!
WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO

LEAP Businesses Recoginition

For the past two years, Community Choices and the Developmental Services Center have been collaborating on an Employment 1st Initiative in Champaign County. This project is funded by the Champaign County Developmental Disabilities Board and aims to build the capacity of businesses and organizations to employ people with disabilities in competitive, community jobs.

As part of this effort, we have developed a business certification and training to help employers better connect with this emerging workforce! The certification is called LEAP – Leaders in Employing All People. If you have connections to a business that would like to receive our training and certification, please contact Ashley Withers at ashleycchoices@gmail.com.

THANK YOU

Advocates of Change and Papadosio at the Canopy Club

A big thank you to Advocates of Change for choosing Community Choices as the beneficiary of their March 4th event at the Canopy Club. They, with the support of our community, artists, and the band Papadosio, were able to raise nearly $300 for Community Choices! We were thrilled to be included and wish them luck on their mission to support other worthy organizations around the country!

POSTPONED: THE ARTISTS' COLLECTIVE ART SHOW

The Artists’ Collective – POSTPONED
The Annual Community Choices Art Show – The Artists’ Collective – has been postponed for a future date. Due to a saturation of art-related events in our community this spring, we felt that waiting till summer or fall would result in a more successful event for both us and our art community.

We are still looking for other fundraising opportunities, so all ideas are welcomed! Contact Becca Obuchowski @ Becca.communitychoices@gmail.com to discuss!
