Libraries Denied Ebook Purchases
Have you heard that a major publisher wants to limit libraries' access to ebooks? Macmillan Publishers will limit libraries to purchasing one copy of each new ebook and impose an eight-week embargo on purchasing more copies, starting November 1.
This means fewer ebooks available to library patrons, which amounts to less access to books, knowledge, and information. We stand behind the American Library Association's #eBooksForAll campaign and encourage you to sign the petition opposing this new model.
Looking for a free writing workshop? Peer review fellow writers, get constructive feedback on your own writing, and learn literary techniques to make your writing shine. All free, all online, only with a library card.
We will have a booth at the 10th annual Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books, a free festival celebrating reading, writing, literature, and the arts. The festival is free! Highlights include a presentation and concert by Bobbie Malone from Ken Burns' documentary "Country Music," and an appearance by Wisconsin's poet laureate, Margaret Rozga, as well as over 60 authors. See you there!
