Deadline Extension: Ohio's Best Journalism Contest

Ohio’s Best Journalism contest got off to a great start in early 2020, and then a couple of weeks ago activity on the contest website came to a sudden halt as journalists across our state scrambled to cover the worldwide pandemic. We have received numerous inquiries in recent days asking for the contest deadline to be extended, so to give everyone extra time we are extending the contest deadline until midnight, Monday, June 1, 2020.

Update: Excellence in Journalism Conference

The health and safety of attendees is always our first priority, and the Excellence in Journalism team is monitoring COVID-19 developments — particularly guidance from the WHO, CDC and Washington, D.C., Health Department — closely.

As of now, Excellence in Journalism 2020 will proceed as planned September 10-12 in Washington, D.C. Please keep the event on your calendar, but do not make any travel arrangements until we announce a final determination about the event’s status on this site.

EIJ will continue to assess the situation over the following weeks and months. We will provide status updates on this page and to registered attendees via email.

We are thankful to all the journalists working tirelessly to keep their communities informed, and we look forward to seeing you all in September in Washington, D.C.!
