For the week of June 10, 2018

Who Ever Said the Summer Days Were "Slow" and "Lazy"?
They obviously were never around New Salem in the summer-- there's lots to keep you busy this time of year!
Join us this Sunday for

This Sunday in our 10:45 AM service, our praise team and choir will lead us to celebrate Jesus with songs like “I'll Fly Away”, “King of My Heart”, and “Shoulders.” Natalie Crowe is scheduled to sing a solo, and Pastor Alan will continue the introductory message in his new series, “Meet the Church.”

Sunday Night...Join us for Harvest America!

This Sunday is the Harvest America Simulcast! At 6 PM we will gather in the Unity Building for an ice cream fellowship (bring you favorite flavor to share). Then at 7 PM we will move into the sanctuary to join the Harvest America Crusade live from Arlington, Texas, via satellite. Enjoy music from Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham and more, plus an inspiring message from evangelist Greg Laurie. Bring a friend! (Please note:the simulcast will last from 7-9 PM)

New for Kids this Summer...
Starting Wednesday!

Children in Action is underway on Wednesday nights at 6:30 PM for grades 1-5. Children in Action is a fun study teaching kids how to follow Jesus through missions. We'll learn about different countries and how the gospel is being shared there, plus take part in “hands on” opportunities to help spread the gospel both here and around the world. Children in Action will meet each Wednesday this summer in the Children's Church building. See Katie Beth Rogers for more info.

Take Us out to the Ball Game!
Faith & Family Night with the Lookouts is Friday, July 13! New Salem has reserved a block of tickets in the lower deck. Those tickets will be available at the Welcome Desk today following the 10:45 AM service for $8 each (while supplies last). Bring your used baseball or softball equipment to the game to donate to Sports Plus ministries and receive a free ticket to a future game! Make plans to join us for a great night of family fun!
The Challenge Has Been Made...
At New Salem, we believe people receive the greatest spiritual benefit from being connected to a small group of peers with whom they can develop meaningful friendships, discover the Bible together, and develop their spiritual gifts for service. That's why we encourage everyone to get connected to one of our Sunday School small groups, which meet on Sundays at 9:30 AM. To encourage our groups to get out and connect with new people, we have set a challenge: when we hit 150 in attendance for Sunday School, we will plan to provide each group with free donuts on the next Sunday!
If you are already involved with one of our groups, start inviting your friends to Sunday School. If you are not yet connected, let us help you find a group that will  be a good fit for you. Check out the directory below, or contact the church office at (423) 842-3078.

Celebrate Father's Day with New Salem on Sunday, June 17, in our 10:45 AM service.   We will have a special "family" service (no Children's Church that day, so everyone can sit with Dad). Every dad in attendance will receive a free gift. Pastor Alan will invite all the kids down front for brief chat with the pastor, followed by a special Father's Day message for everyone  entitled, “The Proverbial Godly Man”. Please note that there will be no evening service or activities on June 17, so you may spend some extra time with dad!

New Salem Is Looking for a Few Good Men!
Supporting God's Servants While They Work Under the Blazing Summer Sun

The WorldChangers are coming, and we need your help! In July, teams of Baptist high school and college students from around the country will be coming to Chattanooga to help low-income families with home repairs and other needs in the name of Christ. You can support this important mission with donations of bottle water and sports drinks. Drop your donations off at the Sunday School office on Sundays, or during office hours, M-F, 8 am- 4 pm. Thanks for helping to make this ministry possible!

Get in the Big Game!

New Salem's Big Game! Vacation Bible School is coming up July 23-27, 6:00-8:30 PM nightly! Avoid the rush and preregister your kids online--just follow the link below.
We are also still looking for volunteers. Find out more at a volunteer meeting on Sunday, June 3, in the Harvester's classroom following the 10:45 AM service, or visit the display in the main lobby.
