This Sunday: Join us for a Special Guest!
Join us at New Salem this Sunday  at 10:45 AM for passionate worship led by our praise team and choir! Also this Sunday, we will hear from a very special couple serving as missionaries in South Asia through the International Mission Board.  For their safety we cannot tell you who they are or exactly where they are serving; for the same reason, we will not livestream this week's service online. The only way you can hear their story is to join us in person this Sunday at New Salem. Come be blessed as you hear what God is doing around the world!
Breakfast with Santa is Just Around the Corner!
Every December, New Salem hosts "Breakfast with Santa" as an opportunity to meet the families of our community and share with them the true story behind Christmas. If you are interested in being part of the team for this year's event, plan to stay for a volunteer meeting this Sunday (9/16) following the 10:45 AM service. The meeting will take place in the Harvester's classroom, just down the hall from the nursery. For more information, contact New Salem's children's director, Angie Carpenter.
Harvest Festival 2018: We Need Candy!
Harvest Festival 2018 is coming up on October 27, and we need candy...lots of candy!  Perhaps you can pick up a bag or two of individually wrapped sweets on your next trip to the grocery store?  Look for the collection bins set up in New Salem's main lobby starting this Sunday.
Harvest Festival is one of our biggest outreach events of the year, with literally hundreds of guests each fall. You can help by donating candy, decorating your car for our Trunk or Treat, handing out popcorn, helping register guests, or directing parking. Sign up lists will be posted soon at the Welcome Desk. For more information, contact Angie Carpenter.
Deacon Election 2018:
Final Round on September 23
New Salem has a very special group of men who assist our pastor in ministering to the needs of our church family. Every year the membership of New Salem is asked to nominate men of high integrity, spiritual maturity, and demonstrated ability to serve in this vital ministry.  This year we began this nomination process in August, and the men nominated have been carefully vetted as to their fitness for this task. The men who have risen to the top during this process will be presented to the church membership for final approval at the end of the 10:45 AM service on Sunday, September 23. All New Salem members are encouraged to be present and to participate in this final step of the approval process.

"Therefore, brethren, select from among you ... men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and of wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task." (Acts 6:3)
Here's a "Golden " Opportunity
to Spread the Gospel in Tennessee!
Tennessee is rapidly becoming a mission field. There are millions of people in Tennessee who do not know Jesus. Here's our opportunity as a church to partner with other churches to spread the good news about Jesus throughout our state!
Throughout the month of September, along with our regular offerings New Salem will be accepting contributions to the Golden State Offering for the Tennessee Baptist Mission Board. To contribute, look for the specially marked envelopes in the sanctuary, or write "Golden Offering" on the memo line of your check (an online option will be added soon). The funds collected through the Golden Offering will help plant new churches across Tennessee, help revitalize struggling churches, and enable special outreaches targeted towards college students, developmentally-challenged adults, children, and others.
Watch the video below to learn more about how your gifts to the Golden Offering are empowering missions in Tennessee:
New Small Group For Millennials!
In 2017, as part of our Strategic Initiatives, New Salem voted to restructure our Wednesday night programming to provide more opportunities for people to develop as disciples. As part of that restructuring, this fall New Salem is offering a small group on Wednesday nights aimed at young adults in their 20s-30s, both married or single. This six-week group will work through the study Detours:The Unpredictable Path to Your Destiny by Dr. Tony Evans. This group will meet at  6 PM starting September 19. For more information, contact small group coordinator Tom Klempin.
