Join us for Worship this Sunday!

This Sunday in our 10:45 AM service, we give thanks to God for America and the ideals she represents. We will also pray that God would bless America and send spiritual renewal to her shores. We will show our appreciation to those who have put their lives on the line to defend our freedom of religion, speech, assembly and other liberties. Most importantly, we will spend some time considering where true liberty really comes from. Please plan to join us, and bring a friend!

A Great Week At New Salem's Basketball Camp!
This past week nearly 100 kids gathered daily at New Salem for our 11th Annual Basketball Camp. In addition to working on basketball skills, these campers also learned how Jesus can direct their lives. This year's theme was "Come Back!", based on 2 Chronicles 15:7. Special thanks to Chris & Lacie Roddy, and all of their coaches and volunteers, for putting together another great week of camp for the kids in our community.

Take Us out to the Ball Game!

Faith & Family Night with the Lookouts is Friday, July 13! New Salem has reserved a block of tickets in the lower deck. We still have a few tickets available through the church office for $8 each. Bring your used baseball or softball equipment to the game to donate to Sports Plus ministries and receive a free ticket to a future game! Make plans to join us for a great night of family fun!

It Was Evident These Students Were Having a Great Time!
New Salem's Student Ministry held Camp Evident this week. We had great participation this year, using the campground at Chester Frost Park as a basecamp. In addition to learning about five foundational principles of discipleship, the students helped with Basketball Camp, conducted other service projects, and took part in team-building exercises led by Shawn & Dana Malone from Scenic City Safari Outfitters. Although this week's severe weather led to camp ending early, it was still a great week for everyone involved. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped student pastor Greg Sluder put together a great experience for our students this year.

Update on New Salem's Deacon Nominations:
Thank you to all of our New Salem members who took part in stage one of this year's deacon nomination process. The theory is that when we ask members to nominate prospective deacons, those men who demonstrate blameless reputations, competent service, and spiritual maturity tend to rise to the top. Yesterday we received 93 ballots, with 37 different men receiving a combined 331 nominations. However, there were a definite few who stood out. The next step is for these men who received the most nominations to be screened by myself and our deacon leadership to make sure they fit the scriptural criteria (see attached) and that they are willing to serve. By August we will come back to the congregation for final approval on the list of those men who should be invited to serve as deacons during the next term, which begins in October. Please be in prayer both for our screening committee and these prospective deacons, that we will be able to discern the Lord's leadership in this selection process.
Supporting God's Servants While They Work Under the Blazing Summer Sun

The WorldChangers are coming, and we need your help! In July, teams of Baptist high school and college students from around the country will be coming to Chattanooga to help low-income families with home repairs and other needs in the name of Christ. You can support this important mission with donations of bottle water and sports drinks. Drop your donations off at the Sunday School office on Sundays, or during office hours, M-F, 8 am- 4 pm. Thanks for helping to make this ministry possible!
