Forward Forward
Dear everyone

Music is such a wonderful way to connect to feelings, particularly those that are hard to find words for. I group up in a family where my dad, although very emotional, couldn’t express this, other than by exploding every so often … and through music. I felt all the emotion he experienced through the music he played. Dad loved modern jazz and he would play the loud, intensive, squeaky high, improvisational type really loudly in the mornings before school, before work. Pretty full on.  I learnt, through my dad, to navigate and find an outlet for the ups and downs of life, and regulate myself through music.

This post puts a spotlight on music and some of the tracks I like playing in workshops to accompany the content and energy of what we are discovering together. If workshops somehow lead into connection and celebration that feels more like social gathering than workshop, that’s my idea of a good time shared!  I found myself looking around a room at the International Intensive Training fringe event in Birmingham 2018 when at the end of a workshop, it looked like a group of friends at ease and relaxed. I loved that feeling!!!

Some of my favourite tracks to use in workshops

In face to face workshops, I always like to begin with this track by Hang Massive as we silently encounter each other and connection to intention and a shared humanity of all our vulnerabilities.

This is a gorgeous track to play at the beginning of the day, to welcome it in. Lovely day – Bill Withers
The Power is here now – Alexia Chellun. I find myself playing this one in the breaks in online trainings. It’s subtle, powerful and settles the soul.

Be thankful for what you’ve got – William De Vaughan
I remember dancing and allowing space for the smooth vibes in this mellow track towards the end of day two of Foundation training with a small group when I offered a training in my home. It just goes on and on, veerrrrrry awesome.

Gracias a la Vida – Violata Parra is one of my favourites and satisfies me as an honouring of South American struggles against military regimes. The message is so succinct. ‘Thank you life, who has given me so much.’

Mercy Now – Mary Gauthier is an amazing track to play to integrate intensity and pain, it opens up the heartspace for compassion on a deep, deep level. It embodies the power and challenge of compassion.

Back to Life – Soul II Soul is one of my favourite tracks to finish with. It symbolises a soulful landing back into our bodies before we step back out of the workshop.

And there are so many more.

If you want to check out my tunes and learn NVC, my next Foundation training starts on Monday 1st November 7-9.30pm UK for 5 weeks. There are still places.

Here is one participant's feedback

"I have wanted to do the NVC Foundation weekend with Ceri for years and finally, finally, I gave myself the gift, and what a gift it was. Ceri is one of those amazing people who understands the importance of the felt experience. Her talent for holding space and allowing everyone to be seen and heard is a skill. Her knowledge of NVC combined with her vulnerability, honesty and openness gives an opportunity for attendees to drop into the work, make real lasting changes in the way they feel, think, act and do, and transform they way they relate to both themselves and those around them. Please do this workshop!" Foundation training
