Dear everyone

In this newsletter, you'll find out about:

Conflict Transformation Practice group - begins 7th May (afternoon, monthly)
Keep your NVC fit - begins Tuesday 9th June for 4 weeks (evening)

****

But before that ... this card  (above) i picked from the Radical Tenderness deck speaks to me of allowing things to go without 'collapsing'. That is no mean feat i imagine. Letting things go is unsettling. This month i'm allowing myself the month off (well, i'm still doing some work but I've said no to a ton of things and i've stepped back from some regular commitments). The things i do give me structure and purpose,  as i let them go (for a month) to see if there is something else that i could be doing ( i have a sense there is), in my fearful moments, i worry about collapsing into doing nothing, getting stuck and nothing having a bigger idea than what i am currently doing.

To navigate the month, i will use what has been described as an 'Emptying prayer', basically 3 questions which are simply and obvious. It's a prayer because it's asking to a space, force, entity, consciousness beyond my own.

Show me what I need to do
Show me where I need to go.
Show me what I need to say and to whom.

I've already tried saying this when on my bike, when doing the washing up, when swimming, when walking in the park, in those loose moments between things, or in thrall to some other activity.  My experience of saying these words has been to soften something in me. They kind of make it OK that i don't know what to do. I'm asking for guidance.

Here is a poem about choosing a bigger frame and not knowing - In Thrall

And of course, (here's the segway to work!) Nonviolent communication supports us to 'go bigger' by encouraging connection to needs, which connect me to me, and me to you and everyone.

Conflict Transformation Practice group - begins 7th May 2022

We are now just under a week away from the new Conflict Transformation practice group, beginning in May, led by Kirstin Heidler of the Conflict Transformation Weave.

What it is about

Being with conflict is challenging and facilitating conflict is something that needs to be practised. This group wants to create the space to build conflict facilitation skills.

Who it is for

This group is for anyone who wants to learn more about facilitating conflicts. You don’t need to be an expert, not even in NVC. You need to bring curiosity and the willingness to learn about how to listen differently and what works in conflict facilitation. We experiment and learn together.

The format

We meet for 3 hours on the first Saturday of each month.

The group relies on participants bringing their real conflicts. Several of the conflicts are explored in initial conversations to begin with. Of those 1-2 can be role-played in a group conflict engagement process.
