Project GUTS COVID-19 Modeling Challenge

We are faced with a tremendous amount of news and information about COVID-19. One way to respond is to try to better understand the spread of coronavirus and strategies to contain its spread. Let’s work together to see what we can learn!

Teachers with GUTS has created a challenge that will teach basic StarLogo Nova skills in the context of creating a model of an epidemic and then customizing your model to reflect how the Coronavirus spreads. Students will then use this model to add and study the impact of different strategies for containing COVID-19’s spread.
The Challenge

What: Model the spread of COVID-19 using StarLogo Nova

Who: Project GUTS students and teachers. Recommended for middle and high school students and their teachers.

When: Between March 12 - March 31, 2020 (You can choose: projects can take several hours to several days to complete)

Where: Find the lesson details and resources
