(It's Almost Spring!)

Community is Our Strength

Hello Turtle Herders,

It’s been a busy couple of months getting ready for Cohort 3 year of the National Science Foundation funded Teachers with GUTS research study. We are trying to expand our study to investigate teacher learning of CT, computer modeling and simulation, and teachers’ enactment of the Project GUTS CS in Science curriculum in districts across the country. Thanks to our partnering districts, facilitators, and teachers for making this possible!

We are seeking a social media outreach coordinator (contract position) for a few hours per week helping us stay in touch with our community. We are also seeking to videotape teacher’s implementations of Project GUTS lessons.  Please contact us if you are interested in having us visit you to videotape.  (Important note: this is great source of material for teachers who are applying for National Board certification!)

In memoriam:
We are saddened by the loss of one of our Teachers with GUTS colleagues, Christin Slaughter, of Las Cruces, NM. Christin was a high school science teacher and champion for Project GUTS at Arrowhead Early College High School when she died unexpectedly.  Our condolences go out to her family, students, and colleagues.

We stand in solidarity with our Project GUTS colleagues in Broward County, FL.  A fund has been set up to help with the medical costs of victims of the February 14th shooting at Stoneman Douglas High School at
