Newsletter June 2016
Dear <<First Name>>
Yesterday evening, the TRG committee got together and this newsletter is a summary of what was discussed. These newsletters will be periodic; sent only when we have something worth saying. So rest assured we won't be clogging up your in box!
The following roles have been decided:
Nick Thripp - Chair
Alan Wanne - Research
Bernadette Keane - Communications
Committee members Dave Arnold and Lorraine Barnett (along with those listed above) will adopt the other roles of Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer on a rotational basis.
Former Honda site decision
Thanks for all the responses. We are certainly united in our disappointment at the outcome. There are a number of conditions which come with this decision and when building work goes ahead TRG will be ensuring they are adhered to. TRG will produce a simple summary of these conditions to be circulated to all residents before building commences. Please make a point of looking at the site when passing and let us know if you spot any failure to comply.
Local Council Committee Meeting
This took place earlier in the week and parking restrictions were discussed. Peter Harman, one of our ward councillors contacted us afterwards and had this to say in conjunction with his thoughts on the former Honda site decision:
"Disappointed with the Inspector's decision which will mean more on street parking. At the Local Committee meeting this week we negotiated more time for residents to submit proposals for additional or less parking restrictions. If you have any proposals or believe changes should be made to the ones published please email me: email@example.com within the next 3 weeks when the committee will meet again to discuss a final agreement. I have so far proposed that to compensate for the loss of bays outside the chemist restricted bays be introduced outside Tesla and part of the yellow line at the Pine Grove/Princes Road junction be removed."
Clive House, Queen's Road
It has come to our attention that Clive House is up for sale for re-development. We will be keeping a very close eye on what happens next.
In order to get the actions we want put in place (traffic calming etc) we need to build up evidence to present to the council. Please report any incidents, however minor, of collisions, bad parking, speeding to TRG via our email address: firstname.lastname@example.org. We will keep a log and take it to the council every six months or so. Please include date, nature of incident, vehicles/people involved, photo, and whether it's been reported formally or not.
If you were unable to attend the AGM, we have been working with the school who are as keen as us to try and improve traffic conditions in the 'Triangle'. The schoolchildren have designed a set of posters, themed around speeding and parking. In the coming weeks we will be displaying them in strategic points in both Princes Road and Pine Grove. We hope to encourage the press to cover this story as well as highlight what TRG is doing as a whole.
Thank you to all those who have made donations. We plan to use the money collected thus far to help pay for costs associated with the Manby Lodge poster initiative as well as to set up a simple TRG website.
