Runner of the Month

Runner of the Month for November is Rich Keep.

Rich joined the club in April last year and has regularly attended club nights since. He signed up to the club's 10k training program and his hard work and determination paid off as he cut two minutes off his PB at Bolsover to finish in a time of 39:38. He also began running cross country for the club, including last weekend, running excellently to finish as 31st masters male in the county champs, in 45:16 for the difficult 6.6 mile course. He has signed up to another block of 10k training and also the Manchester Marathon and we're confident he can improve further.
Well done Rich!
If you have nominations for runner of the month please send through to by the end of the calendar month.  These then get discussed and voted on by the committee.

Midland 12 and 6 Stage Road Relays

Saturday 25th March at Sutton Park, Birmingham
In 1967 the AAA's started supporting a National Road Relay. The first being held in Leicester in April 1967. It was held in Leicester for the next two years, 1968 and 1969. In 1970 the event moved to Sutton Park where it is still held today. There are two road relay events that take place each year: 12/6  stage in spring and the 6/4 stage in Autumn and it will be fantastic to fly the Barrow flag at these events.
Clubs can enter multiple teams of 12 runners for men and 6 runners for women (sadly no mixed event). Each runner runs their leg then hands over to the next relay runner until all runners have completed the course.
-The 12 stages for men consists of 4 long legs (5.38 miles) and 8 short legs (3.165 miles) and begins at 12 noon.
-The 6 stages for women consists of 2 long legs (5.38 miles) and 4 short legs (3.165 miles) and begins at 12:20.
This event is multi-ability; don’t think you’re too slow to take part and don’t be put off by times and records. It is a great event to witness top class running but also to support our team and enjoy doing something different! There is no cost to you and we will organise transport closer to the time but if you are interested or have any questions, please let Chris know, either in person on a club night or

The Leicestershire Running and Athletics Network (LRAN) are again awarding certificates for achieving county standards in 2016.

County Standards are times achieved across most standard distances raced (and the less standard distances of the LRRL). There are varying standards such as platinum, gold, silver, bronze etc.

If you have met the times in at least 5 distances (9 for a distinction) you can submit your times and recieve a certificate.

Standards (times) and procedure to submit can be viewed on

If you have achieved these please submit your name, club, races with times and positions to Dave Lodwick from LRRL.
