Midland 12 and 6 Stage Road Relays
Saturday 25th March at Sutton Park, Birmingham
Final Call for entries - if interested please let Chris know by 26th Feb.
In 1967 the AAA's started supporting a National Road Relay. The first being held in Leicester in April 1967. It was held in Leicester for the next two years, 1968 and 1969. In 1970 the event moved to Sutton Park where it is still held today. There are two road relay events that take place each year: 12/6 stage in spring and the 6/4 stage in Autumn and it will be fantastic to fly the Barrow flag at these events.
Clubs can enter multiple teams of 12 runners for men and 6 runners for women (sadly no mixed event). Each runner runs their leg then hands over to the next relay runner until all runners have completed the course.
-The 12 stages for men consists of 4 long legs (5.38 miles) and 8 short legs (3.165 miles) and begins at 12 noon.
-The 6 stages for women consists of 2 long legs (5.38 miles) and 4 short legs (3.165 miles) and begins at 12:20.
This event is multi-ability; don’t think you’re too slow to take part and don’t be put off by times and records. It is a great event to witness top class running but also to support our team and enjoy doing something different! There is no cost to you and we will organise transport closer to the time but if you are interested or have any questions, please let Chris know, either in person on a club night or email@example.com
