We have a plan!

NAWIC's aim has always been to support the development and retention of the women working in the construction industry and we have been doing this by creating opportunities for you to gain new skills.

Being part of the organisation provides additional skills, however, over the years, many of you have told us that although you would like to be more involved in the work we do, your personal, professional or familial reasons, prevent you from applying to become a member of the committee. Today we bring a proposal that could be of interest.

As we announced previously, the team has been working on a variety of changes that will come into place for the region starting on the 8th of March. (The date we have decided will be marking the start of a new year for our region moving forward)

We will share every detail on the 8th of March 2022 but for now, we want to start by sharing this announcement by our Outgoing Chair which is a good indicator of what we have put in place to empower every member to, in a supported manner, take the opportunity to contribute to the regional programme without needing to join the committee.

We want you to be aware that the video answers most of the questions you may have and the Event Pack the rest, this is why we are asking of you that you watch the entire video (around 8 minutes), and if you want to find out more, email us with the subject "Event pack request".

Please don't underestimate the importance of following these instructions

Break the bias
8.3.22 from 6pm, London

"Whether deliberate or unconscious, bias makes it difficult for women to move ahead. Knowing that bias exists isn’t enough, action is needed to level the playing field. Are you in? Will you actively call out gender bias, discrimination and stereotyping each time you see it?

Will you help break the bias?

Join Women in Architecture UK for a celebration of women architects who are breaking the bias in our sector and beyond, in honour of International Women's Day 2022 on 8th March.

Come along to the BOSS Design Showroom to catch up with fellow women in architecture and hear from WIA committee members as they share stories of the women that inspire them.

We will also be celebrating our outgoing Chair Anna Schabel's tenure at WIA, before she passes the baton on to her successor."
