A new NDIS Workforce induction for the Industry 

NDIS providers or those delivering NDIS type supports can access an industry-first shared training resource freely available to support the induction of new and existing workers 

WorkAbility Qld and TAFE Queensland launched the NDIS Workforce Fundamentals Micro-credential on the eve of International Day for People with Disability (Dec 2) at the Cairns Disability Network Meeting, with an official announcement made by Minister for Training and Skills Development Di Farmer and Minister for Disability Services Craig Crawford.

Online learning for NDIS self-managed participants 

A new online learning program is available for people that are looking to self-manage their own plan or are currently self-managing and looking to increase their skills and knowledge.  Self Managing your NDIS Plan, includes ten e-learning modules and has been developed by Care College through co-design with QDeNgage consultants as part of the NTSSS project.

Think outside the Square this Disability Action Week !
This Disability Action Week (5-11 Dec) be encouraged to do things differently and work collaboratively with people with disability in your organisation. The Wesley Hospital has partnered with UnitingCare's Project SEARCH initiative to place young adults with disability into jobs. To learn more watch this short video clip.
Get Ready Queensland!
As Queensland prepares for its borders opening to Australia and overseas, you can access free resources to prepare your workforce in becoming vaccine confident, as well as resources on infection control and PPE.
Public Consultation Open
The Queensland Government has started public consultation for the reform of the authorisation framework for the use of restrictive practices in NDIS and disability service settings. To read the consultation paper click here. To part in the consultation you can resister in an online session on Tuesday 14 December as an Advocate and Peak Body Representative, lodge a submissionemail feedback or complete a survey. Consultation remains open until Monday 10 January 2022.
 
Sector Briefing: NDIS National Workforce Plan
The Department of Social Services is giving a sector briefing on the implementation of the NDIS National Workforce Plan: 2021-2025 on Tuesday 14 December (3-4pm). The briefing will showcase progress of the Plan’s initiatives. To join the briefing contact the Department's Workforce Policy Team.
 
Industry Event: WorkAbility Forum 
Hear about the newly released NDIS Workforce Fundamentals micro-credential at the WorkAbility Forum on Tuesday 1 February, 2022. Developed and designed in partnership with TAFE Queensland, join to learn how employers can implement this new Industry-developed credential as part of your induction. This micro credential is also relevant for those providing NDIS type supports and welcomes organisations across the wider Community Services Industry too.
