3 things about Israel's blood diamonds trade
Did you know that Israel is one of the world’s leading producers of cut and polished diamonds? Every year, consumers unknowingly spend billions of dollars on diamonds crafted in Israel, thereby helping to fund one of the world’s most protracted and contentious conflicts.

Campaign launch: Australia chairs the Kimberley Process in 2017
AFOPA, 23 August 2017
In 2017 Australia is chairing the international diamond regulatory body, the Kimberley Process Certifications Scheme (KPCS), which regulates the trade in rough diamonds, also known as 'conflict diamonds' or 'blood diamonds'. Thus, as Australians - and with our other concerned international friends - we take this important opportunity to raise awareness about the double standards of the diamond industry and its refusal to broaden the KP definition of a 'conflict diamond' to include diamonds that fund human rights violations by State-based government forces...

Please give two minutes of your time for Palestine.

We need you to EMAIL FOREIGN MINISTER JULIE BISHOP NOW to express your concerns:

Step 1 ~ Click here and enter your name and email.

Step 2 ~ Click 'Send email' and your email is sent to Foreign Minister Julie Bishop MP to say 'I'm counting on you to ensure an ethical Kimberley Process.'

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has said she wants a Kimberley Process "full of integrity, efficacy and responsible, ethical practices."

WE AGREE, MINISTER! We want responsibly sourced diamonds free from the blood of both rebel violence and State-based violence.

The Kimberley Process is a global issue, so your friends, family and networks abroad can also use this campaign to express their concerns to the Australian Foreign Minister... so please:
How the global jewellery industry is funding Israeli crimes
Sean Clinton, Middle East Monitor, 15 January 2016
'Revenue from the diamond industry is estimated to generate about $1bn/yr in funding for the Israeli military. Despite the many grievous human rights violations committed by Israel the jewellery industry continues to deceive consumers by claiming diamonds from Israel are conflict-free. ...'

Israel’s Cut and Polished Diamonds Are Not a Girl’s Best Friend
Delinda C. Hanley, Washington Report on Middle East Affairs, August 2014
'...However, the KPCS tracking system only applies to rough diamonds—so nobody’s looking at what happens next, when the diamonds are cut and polished. It shouldn’t be a surprise that consumers have been hoodwinked once again by a massive advertising campaign, and media compliance...'

Questions raised after Tiffany’s dropped from 'Responsible Business Summit', Mondoweiss, 21 January 2016
'The relationship between organisations promoting ethics and sustainability in supply chains and leading corporations is a symbiotic one as both need each other to some extent. ...'
