60% of Palestine children arrested by Israel tortured

"Sixty per cent of Palestinian children who were arrested by Israeli occupation forces were verbally, physically or psychologically tortured, the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club (PPC) revealed yesterday. In a statement, the PPC said that the Palestinian minors detained by the Israeli occupation were prevented from sleeping, beaten and threatened by interrogators in order to confess..."

Palestinian teenager Ahed Tamimi's trial begins behind closed doors

"Ahed Tamimi, who turned 17 in jail last month, arrived on Tuesday morning for the first day of what could be a months-long trial, in what has become a symbolic case in the battle for international public opinion. The judge ordered a closed-door hearing and ejected a large group of journalists who had gathered at the Ofer military base, despite a request by Tamimi’s lawyer for the media to be able to observe proceedings..."

"In the period between 2000 to 2017 the [Defence for Children International-Palestine] reports that 2,022 Palestinian children lost their lives at the hands of the Israeli forces, an average of 25 per month. During that same period, 137 Israeli children were killed by Palestinians. It is of course not about counting numbers but this does give an indication of the terrible impact of the Israeli occupation and repeated wars on the Palestinians, particularly on the children..."
