Ahed Tamimi, Palestinian teenager who slapped Israeli soldier, jailed for 8 months

"Palestinian teenager Ahed Tamimi has been sentenced to eight months in prison for slapping and kicking a pair of Israeli soldiers outside her home in the occupied West Bank. The sentencing capped a case that sparked uproar in Israel, turned the 17-year-old girl into a Palestinian hero and attracted international attention."

UN officials condemn arbitrary arrest of Palestinian children

"United Nations officials condemned the continued arbitrary detention of Palestinian children by Israel saying the practice has become "systematic and widely spread". A series of UN reports presented at the Human Rights Council shows how the living conditions of Palestinians across the West Bank and Gaza have dramatically worsened over the past year, and how children are bearing the brunt of the Israeli occupation, said Kate Gilmore, the UN deputy high commissioner for human rights."

"Thousands of people have taken part in the Palestine Marathon, an annual event in the Bethlehem area of West Bank. Like in previous years, the marathon on Friday - the event's sixth edition - attracted people from all over the West Bank and Jerusalem, as well as abroad. For many foreigners, the event represents an opportunity to visit Palestine for the first time and witness the conditions Palestinians are living in."
