Trump's Jerusalem decision resoundingly rejected at the United Nations
Both the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly have overwhelmingly voted to reject US President Trump's recent unilateral decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
The 15-member Security Council vote on 18 December saw 14 'in Favour' to 1 'Against', with the US using its veto power to stymie the Resolution. The Resolution would have stressed that Jerusalem was a final status issue to be resolved through negotiations in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions - see full report here >>
However, during a rare emergency meeting the General Assembly vote on 21 December saw 128 Votes 'in Favour', 9 'Against', 35 'Abstentions'. Australia 'Abstained' in its vote - see full report here >>
