Israeli army kills 17 Palestinians in Gaza protests
Al Jazeera News, 1 Apr 2018
"More than 1,400 others were wounded after Israeli forces fired live ammunition at protesters and used tear gas to push them back from a heavily fortified fence, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Friday's demonstration commemorated Land Day, which took place on March 30, 1976, when six unarmed Palestinian citizens of Israel were killed by Israeli forces during protests against the Israeli government's decision to expropriate massive tracts of Palestinian-owned land..."

No gun, no Molotov: why did a 19-year-old Palestinian protester die?
The Sydney Morning Herald, 1 Apr 2018

'He had no gun, no Molotov, a tyre. Does that harm the Israelis, a tyre?' asked his brother Mohamed Abdul Nabi, 22. 'He wasn't going toward the Israeli side. He was running away.'"

Israeli might can’t quell Palestine quest for freedom
Bassam Dally, The Australian - Opinion, 31 Mar 2018
"Daniel Pipes... would have us believe Israelis opted for the Oslo peace process in 1993 because they were 'frustrated with the slow-moving and passive nature of deterrence'. Some of us remember it differently: what Israel learned then was that no amount of bone-breaking and torture in jails and invasions of neighbouring states would change the way Palestinians felt about occupation and dispossession. As an exercise in blaming the victims, Pipes’s recent piece failed the test of coherence... "
