Greetings Worthies, here's the news you need to know this month.
New Worthy Features
Saving for retirement and don't currently have an IRA? We've got you covered. Worthy has recently partnered with New Direction Trust who can open an IRA Accountfor you (if you don't already have an IRA custodian). The link at the bottom will connect you with them.
We are officially open to Non-profit entities who can purchase bonds for their organization as well. Other Worthy users will be able to donate bonds that can help these causes! Please reach out to customer service if you have a non-profit you think might benefit from an account. We also have other ways we can help non-profits use Worthy bonds to raise funds so connect with us if you're interested!
We are in the final steps of testing Business Accounts. Customers will soon be able to invest using funds held by a sole proprietorship, LLC's (including checkbook IRA's) and corporations. A mass email will be sent when this option goes live!
Feel free to reach out to us via customer support for specific feature requests. We value your suggestions!
Look at that sweet smile! This is Joe, he serves as Worthy Lending's Chief Operating Officer and is the Corporate Controller for the Worthy Companies. Joe has been with Worthy for 2 years, and has 25 years in public accounting under his belt. When asking Joe his favorite part about Worthy, his response was ,"the people I work with, they make it all worth it!" (we think the same about him!) Joe is not all business, as he enjoys playing baseball and judo in his free time. Growing up Joe dreamed of being a baseball player (we sure are glad he didn't go that route!) He has been an amazing addition to the Worthy team and has helped establish Worthy's strong foundation. For that and so much more, he is Worthy's Employee Of The Month!
Are You Financially Literate?
In case you weren't aware, September 8th was literacy day so we thought we'd take the opportunity to share some information about Financial Literacy in the United States (it's not what you'd think!)
FINRA the primary regulatory agency for all brokers, dealers and investment advisors found that most American people are not financially literate. As you'd guess, this is an issue as it effects the public's financial decision-making skills. To measure this literacy, FINRA asked a sample of people several questions that they felt would be experienced in everyday life. The report showed that 61% of the people tested were unable to answer 3 of the 5 questions correctly (the proof is in the pudding!). That said, when the sample group was asked how they would self evaluate their financial knowledge, the same sample of people gave themselves a high rank (we love to think we are good with our money!) Click the link below below to see where you stand!
Wow, what an event packed week it has been! After dodging Hurricane Dorian and trying to still get to Washington DC in time for FinCon, we sure are exhausted!
The four day FinCon event was an exciting time for the Worthy team. We got to share our story and were able to learn about other finance companies, bloggers and podcasters. Our CEO Sally presented a session called "Building Wealth Outside Of Wall Street" and was able to provide the FinCon audience with some of her expertise. Our favorite moment was meeting a 7 year old who came with her mother to Sally's presentation and told us she was planning for her investment future (now that's some good parenting!). One of the days during the event we were able to host our first Worthy meet up. Saying we enjoyed getting to know our fellow Worthies is an understatement. We learn so much from meeting you guys and we can't wait to host MANY more in the near future!
What Are You Saving For Campaign?

Quote we loved this week!
"Financial peace isn't the acquisition of stuff. It's learning to live on less than you make, so you can give money back and have money to invest. You can't win until you do this."
