Valentine's Day Doesn't Have to Break the Bank

Love is priceless… except on that one day a year, when you are expected to fork over two week’s worth of grocery budget to impress your date...a.k.a Valentine’s Day!  We're told the average consumer in U.S. is expected to spend $136.57 on holiday merchandise and services (Source: USA Today, 2017), so we wanted to offer some worthy ways to save but still have some special time with your valentine!

1. Skip the flowers. Give a plant instead. Succulents make an awesome gift for any space (home or office) and cost just a few dollars, versus $30+ you spend on a bouquet of fancy roses that wilt a few days later. Alternatively, an orchid purchased from a local nursery/green market will run you less than $20 and make your date smile for the entire year.

2. Art of Dinner: Cooking together at home can be a fun and exciting experience. Pick an easy recipe that doesn't take more than 30 min of prep time, but allows you to be playful and innovative. Our suggestion: make your own pizzas! You can shape them into hearts and adorn with colorful veggies to add some personality.

3. Get Crafty: Get some painting supplies at a nearby art store and spend the evening submerged in making art while sharing a good conversation over some wine. Or look up a painting class nearby for their special Valentine’s Day offer, and bring your own drinks and snacks to share.

4. Gift an experience.  Would another gadget convey your love for him? Instead of buying “things” for each other, plan an experience that you can share together. It doesn’t have to cost a fortune either - a couples massage, picnic at a park, or show tickets all make good gifts on a budget that allow you to spend more time with each other.

Enjoy sharing your love!

Your 1099-INT Tax Form is Ready

A quick reminder to all of our Worthy community:

At the beginning of each year, we send out the 1099-INT tax form as required by the IRS. As you know, interest earned from Worthy Bonds is taxable, but we only generate a form if your Worthy interest exceeds $10 in a given year. By now, if you have met or passed that $10 in interest threshold, you should have gotten an email notifying you that your 1099 form is available in your account dashboard. If you did not, please reach out to us at support@worthy.us.

If you did not yet earn $10 in interest, the good news is that you have a chance to grow your interest in 2019, since you can earn a free $10 bond for each new Worthy user who joins after clicking your personal Referral Program link.
MORE ABOUT REFERRAL

Free from Fear to Start

At Worthy, we love seeing people succeed with their business ventures. But we see time and time again that many founders are afraid to launch due to having personal debt. According to Nerdwallet, the average American household carries almost $16,000 in credit card debt, $50,626 in student loan debt and $182,421 in mortgage debt. It’s a rare person who is completely debt free in the United States

Thing is, not bringing your ideas to life due to a fear of debt leaves a lot of unrealized potential. Learn how to not let your loans hold you back from achieving your goals and becoming a business founder.
