Following the devastating earthquake in Italy, three Mindful Restaurant Group restaurants, including Capitol Hill's Acqua al 2 (212 7th St. SE), are serving a special dish now through the end of September.
50% of sales from the Bucatini Amatriciana ($18) will go to the Italian Red Cross to aid in relief efforts. It's a signature dish of the city of Amatrice, which was impacted by the earthquake. The dish will be available for both lunch and dinner, so be sure to stop by and #EatForItaly!
Starting September 18, the DC Streetcar will begin Sunday Service. Monthly data shows the streetcar has consistently exceeded ridership projections. In the six months since passenger service began on February 27, the streetcar has carried over 400,000 passengers, stimulating economic development, tourism and general interest along the corridor.
“With six months of passenger service complete, the streetcar is ready for the next step forward, the launch of Sunday service,” said Mayor Muriel Bowser. “We continue to be impressed by the ridership numbers and look forward to attracting even more people to the H Street/Benning Road corridor each and every day of the week.”

World Car Free Day (CFD) is Thursday, September 22, and last year thousands of metropolitan Washington residents went to the local CFD website and pledged to give up solo driving for a day—and visited CFD sponsors whose logos and website links are featured on the site!
It’s easy to become a sponsor. Just provide a Car Free Day coupon, raffle prize, service or promotion, and your logo and website link will be placed on www.CarFreeMetroDC.org where it will be seen by thousands of participating metropolitan Washington area residents.
You’ll support Commuter Connections’ annual program to show commuters the benefits of leaving their cars behind for the environment, traffic congestion, and their wallets. And that’s good for business because people who go car-free tend to shop locally and more frequently than their car-driving-counterparts.
To become an event sponsor or to learn more, contact Patrick Higgins at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call 914-821-5100.
