The 59th Presidential Inauguration occurs on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. Whether you are a resident or business owner, stay informed and have a plan for the inauguration week. 

Security measures to keep the community safe during the upcoming inauguration are already taking place. MPD reports the following road closures are in effect until further notice:

  • Independence Avenue between Washington Ave, SW, and Second Street, SE.
  • Constitution Ave between First Street, NW, and Second Street, NE.
  • East Capitol Street between First and Second Streets.
  • 18th Street at Constitution Avenue, NW.
  • 17th Street at Independence Avenue, SW.
  • 11th Street at Independence Avenue, SW.
  • 12th Street at Independence Avenue, SW. 
  • 7th Street at Madison Drive, NW.
  • 7th Street at Jefferson Drive, SW
To stay up to date on the 59th Presidential Inauguration from DC Government, text INAUG2021 to 888-777 for updates on public safety, street closures, weather alerts, transit updates, and more.

Updates will also be available on the DC Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency (HSEMA) social media pages including: TwitterFacebook and Instagram.

In consideration of the fluid nature of activities and regulatory measures tied to Washington DC's current State Emergrncy affecting the region, the start of Winter Restaurant Week will be delayed by one week. 

The promotion, including dine-in or to-go, will now start on Monday, January 25 and run through Sunday, February 7

Are you interested in becoming a board member for the Capitol Hill BID? Our board represents a dynamic cross-section of Capitol Hill stakeholders, including merchants, tenants, property owners, cultural and nonprofit organizations and ex-officio representatives. [See qualifications below.]

The Elections Committee will consider nominees up until Friday, January 22, 2021. Anyone wishing to be considered for a seat on the BID Board of Directors should contact Patty Brosmer ( no later than the above date. The new terms of office start in March 2021.

Qualifications & Term of Office: All members of the Board of Directors (other than Appointed Directors) shall be Members, or partners, officers, directors, trustees, agents or employees of Members (property owners or tenants). Elected members serve 3-year terms and can be re-elected an unlimited number of times. No Member may be elected to or may serve on the Board of Directors if they are delinquent by more than sixty (60) days in the payment of any financial obligation to the Corporation. 


Capitol Hill BID will host the 18th Annual Membership Meeting on Tuesday, February 23, virtually via Zoom. 

The Annual Meeting allows all members (commercial property owners and tenants) to elect new members of the Board of Directors or reelect those whose terms are expiring, and to consider such other business as may properly come before the Annual Meeting. It is also a great opportunity to reflect on the past year and get a preview of upcoming BID initiatives.

BID members (commercial property owners and tenants): Proxy/ballots will be mailed the first week of February. When you receive your proxy in the mail, please vote, sign and return it immediately via mail, email, fax, or alternatively respond online.
