The National Cherry Blossom Festival is working alongside Arena Social (507 8th St, SE) to turn the space into an arts studio filled with over 16 fiberglass sculptures that will be painted by multiple artists from the DC region between February 16th – March 16th.
About a dozen of these sculptures will be painted in the gallery area located at Arena Social and afterwards distributed around town to various neighborhoods in time for Cherry Blossom Festival beginning March 20.
In preparation, the delivery of the sculptures may cause some dissonance to the street. Arena Social has permitting and professionals scheduled to remove the sculptures from the semi-tractor trailer that will be positioned directly outside the space and brought in via the garage door.
