Hi,
So here we are, 2021; and for my UK readers, we are back into lockdown. For many people, the return to co-parenting and simultaneous co-working will bring back uncomfortable memories of spring. For others, life may have bought about big changes over the past year. What ever the UK's lockdown 3.0 is bringing one thing is certain - that we are all used to Zoom / Teams (insert other video conferencing software) as the norm. The excitement of changing your background has worn off, pyjamas and hoodies are the new attire, and even THAT colleague now can take themselves off mute. But for many of you, another familiar feeling will be settling in - boredom!
The boredom of monotonous, repetitive meetings will have undoubtedly crept back in for many. It may present its self as frustrations with the software or complaints about it's inadequacy, but how much of that really is the barrier of a screen and how much of it is about the meeting and your participants not having enough Zhush?
It has been undoubtedly tough adapting for many, but the potential to be unlocked if we can use this shift to also shift away from old meeting formats of the past which are unproductive and hugely limit the possibility of collaboration and contribution from the bright minds in those little squares. The potential is for the meetings you organise to become incredible environments for innovation, deeper human connection and a greater contribution - let alone better productivity and keeping one eye on the bottom line.
------- Top Tip! --------
One of my top tips to start a meeting off in the right way is by using a 'check-in' taking the time to really hear each person and value what they have to say. Doing this transforms client dynamics and colleague relationships alike. For a simple guide to check-ins see this activity guide which is part of my Evolve your Facilitation Online course.
For over activity guides like this, instructional videos and the chance to practice your skills and techniques with others in a safe environment - back by popular demand, is this course, now on its 3rd cohort!

How do I know this is right for me?
Do you want to make remote meetings more interesting, create better outcomes and help connect people at a time where they might be feeling disconnected from the team? This course aims to create a space for people to open up and talk about their concerns on this new way of working. You will join a virtual group that will offer you support throughout the journey, and have the opportunity to network and connect with like minded peers. Together we will find a way to bring your whole self to remote working!
If that’s not quite what you are needing, perhaps you might forward this to someone in mind who is tackling these challenges right now?
