KATANNING WELCOMES HOME ICONIC PLAY EQUIPMENT

Katanning’s All Ages Playground was always much more than your ‘typical park’, with its iconic giant playground equipment. The unique equipment made its way back home to the All Ages Playground site on Thursday 18 July 2019 in an exciting milestone in the current works.

Many of the community and visitors alike can recall childhood memories of sliding down the giant spiral slide and will soon get to pass on the same experiences to the next generation in the new All Ages Playground.

“We are thrilled that many of the old slide decks have been upgraded and are featured in the new playground,” Shire President Liz Guidera said.

The giant play equipment has been refurbished as part of a $5 million upgrade of Katanning’s much loved park funded through the State Government Royalties for Regions program and Lotterywest. The renovated equipment now features added safety elements and colourful paintwork and are a memorable part of Katanning’s history.

Southern Dirt TECHSPO aims to be Western Australia’s premier technology and innovation event for the Agricultural community and associated industries. We are bringing technology developers, farmers, advisors, expert researchers and officials together for one day of advanced agriculture technology, information sharing and collaboration. Starting with a full conference in which all is provided, you will then have the opportunity to go in-field and see both livestock and cropping technologies in action.

To keep up to date on all things TECHSPO, visit www.techspo.com.au/news. New information on speakers and exhibitors will be available frequently.

Business and House Numbers to be Displayed
Many businesses and houses in town do not have numbers displayed. This makes it difficult for out of town visitors to find their destination for appointments; to identify who lives at the property when dealing with enquiries and other matters.
More importantly in an emergency where time is critical, emergency services such as police, fire and ambulance may make a big difference in outcomes.
How to contact the Ranger
If anyone has seen or have been in any situations re
garding dogs or cats, please inform the Ranger through the correct channels as messaging/posting through different Facebook pages/groups and other such social media platforms will not help in providing the correct services.  Please contact the Ranger directly through the Shire of Katanning on 9821 9999 or email at admin@katanning.wa.gov.au

Dog and Cat Registration
All dogs and cats over the age of three months are required by law to be registered and micro-chipped. This makes it easier to return pets to their rightful owners and denies the need to impound them. This will not only save additional costs and charges to the owners but also means your pets are returned home.

Wandering Dogs
Not only is it against the law to allow your dog to wander, pets wandering at large can pose a serious public health and safety risk.
If a dog is found wandering, there are penalties involved and your dog may be impounded if no registration tag or microchip is found.
Wandering dogs run the risk of injury, being poisoned or even killed on the road. On top of this, if your dog causes damage or injury to another animal or person, you may be liable for damages.
Wandering dogs can also spread diseases and parasites to other animals in the area, so ensure your pet is vaccinated and treated.
As a dog owner it is your responsibility to ensure that your dog can’t wander off your property.

Into the Wadi by Michele Drouart
Into the Wadi is the true story of a young Australian woman who meets a fellow student at an American university who is from Jordan. They return to Jordan to live with his family, and then marry. Written against the versions of Arab and Muslim culture found in such popular texts as Not Without My Daughter, Princess and Sold; Michele Drouart's memoir is a sensitive, compelling exploration of cultural similarity and difference, of family, exile and belonging and the complexities of human relationships. This book is an extraordinary piece of writing from a major new talent.
