October is National Campus Sustainability Month

This month is national Campus Sustainability Month! To celebrate, we've put together a calendar highlighting sustainability-related events taking place across campus and throughout Lexington. This includes speaker series, film screenings, interactive workshops, markets and more. You can find the entire calendar here. We'll be updating the calendar throughout the month, keep your eye out for updates.
You can also join our scavenger hunt and find sustainable initiatives across campus. If you find all 10 locations, you will receive* a reusable bag full of prizes, including a gift card from UK Dining, a potted plant, and more. Find at least 3 correct locations and receive your choice of one of the prizes. The scavenger hunt will run through October 31st. Find clues and more details here

Recycling is thinking Inside the Box
You may have seen these new recycling and landfill waste containers on campus. UK Recycling premiered the newly-designed pair across campus this fall. The goal is that the change will increase recycling rates and decrease contamination in recycling streams.

The blue ones are for recyclables such as plastic, aluminum, cardboard, and glass. The grey one is for landfill waste, such as food and anything else that isn’t recyclable. The hope is that students and staff can easily identify the blue container as recycling and be more likely to think before they toss.

Keep your eye out for the new containers, and help us divert more material away from the landfill by placing your trash in the proper container.
