Leaving Campus for the Holidays?
Consider Donating Before Throwing Away
Students heading out of their residence halls or Greek housing can create a large amount of waste. In an effort to reduce this, the UK Recycling Office, in partnership with UK Housing, Residence Life, and UK Fraternity and Sorority Life, is offering Give and Go Donations Stations in the lobbies of each residence hall and Greek house.
Students are asked to consider donating items such as clothing, shoes, toiletries, bedding, and school supplies. The donations will go to the Lexington Women’s Hope Center and Goodwill Industries of Kentucky.
Also, students are encouraged to recycle as much as they can by placing their recyclables such as cardboard boxes, empty pizza boxes, plastic bottles and jugs, aluminum cans and paper in the recycling compactor or dumpsters. For a complete list of recyclable materials, please visit the UK Recycling webpage.
Donating and recycling items means that we divert more material from the landfill, so keep an eye out for donations and recyclables as you leave campus.
For questions or concerns, please contact the UK Recycling office at 257-6234 or recycle@uky.edu
