Hi <<First Name>>

We've decided to embrace technology and save the trees by moving to a digital format for our newsletters. If you miss browsing your newsletter over a cuppa let us know and we'll make sure you get a paper version, but our plan is to gradually phase them out. This format means we can share more news, more often, which will help you keep abreast of any important changes. We'd love to hear what you think. Email us.

Easter is almost upon us so enjoy some time off with family and friends and if you're heading away, please travel safe.

Lance and the team

Advance notice

Our office will be closed on Monday 25 April for the Anzac Day holiday.

Are you ready for 31 March?

With 31 March looming, there are many things that we need to do to make sure we are ready for end of year.

Meet Stacey

When she's not busy being our friendly and helpful Client Services Co-ordinator, Stacey enjoys exploring our country's beautiful walking tracks.

When will your work begin?

You'll soon receive a letter advising you of the scheduled start date of your work. If you have special timing requests, please let us know and we will do our very best to accommodate them. We will be in touch near the start date to arrange your Records In meeting. These meetings help keep your costs down by avoiding queries later. Please bring to this meeting your 2015/16 Client Folder, your completed client questionnaire, stock tallies and pricing proposals.

New Client Folders ready soon

Your 2016/17 Client Folder will be ready for collection from the office from 11 April. If you have not collected it we will post it at the end of May, but this will incur an additional cost. Using our Client Folder helps to keep everything at your fingertips and streamlines the process when we do your annual accounts.

Show off your geography smarts and win...

Where in the world are we? A recent photo of Lance and Ange has had a few people scratching their heads. If you know where we are please let us know - all correct answers go in the draw for a bottle of wine. To enter, send us a message with your answer via our Contact Us page.

Book your 2016 provisional tax review

Take advantage of our provisional tax review process to make sure you are not paying more tax than you need to.

Important changes in employment record keeping

Tougher sanctions and increased record keeping requirements mean that you need to be on top of changes to how you deal with employment information.

Changes to tax laws for property sales

In all property transactions, both the buyer and seller must now provide IRD numbers so their lawyers can complete the required tax statement. Be prepared - these transactions may now take a little longer. Please note, this excludes the purchase or sale of a main family home (unless it is owned by a Trust).

KiwiSaver Payments

If you make annual KiwiSaver contributions, make sure you have made your minimum payment by 10 June to get your maximum tax credit.

No NZ Bank account? No IRD number.

Offshore entities and individuals must now have a NZ bank account to apply for an IRD number or GST registration. This is not always easy. We currently have clients from Australia and Germany really struggling to set up NZ Bank accounts. This includes all non residents, including expat New Zealanders.

Increase in minimum wage

From 1 April both minimum wage and starting youth rates will increase. Make sure that you are aware of these changes so that you can update your payroll.
