Messy Art Night - 11/29  6-8pm

 

Have fun making a mess!  On Messy Art Night, families will be able to try a variety of fun art projects which involve shaving cream, foil, plaster masks, and mosaic art.  RSVP for the event below.

Demonstrating the Habits Of Scholarship

Every month Kuumba Academy recognizes students who are doing an exemplary job modeling the habits of scholarship.
Spanish Class - Dara Makinde

Dara is always a role model of what a Kuumba scholar looks like by consistently participating in class and showing respect for herself and others.
Gym Class - Zarrah Perry

Zarrah is always ready to participate in class and have fun, but in a way that is respectful to her teachers and classmates.

Kuumba Begins D.E.A.R.

November 15th
We would like to invite parents to come in to DEAR along with their child. This is also an easy way to pick up volunteer hours. 

Parents - please email your child's teacher if you want to come in and read.
ALSO, please send your child into school with a book to read. 

DEAR time will be every Thursday:
Kinder- 4th grade 3:05-3:15
5th- 8th grade 12:35-12:50

Our first DEAR is scheduled to be November 15th

Spring Musical


Kuumba is excited to announce that this year's spring musical will be The Lion King Jr!  Information will be sent home on break - we hope many of you will audition and participate in the play.

This year the Faith Victory Christian Center is hosting Thanksgiving Dinner at the CEB in the second floor.  All community members are welcome.

Dear Kuumba Families,

It has been our pleasure to work with you and your family for the 2018-2019 school year, and we hope to continue the partnership in the 2019-2020 school year.

Half Day Attendance
 
We have noticed higher rates of student absences on half day Fridays.  Please make sure that your child is attending school on half day Fridays so they do not miss critical instructional time.  As a reminder, students who are not in attendance for 90% of the school year are at risk for truancy and may be retained based on attendance data. extensive list of pertinent sports, events, and school information.

Coats for Kids
The Family Resource Center has brand new coats for our students.

Winter is here and we want our students to stay warm.  If your child needs a coat please contact the FRC located on the 5th floor.

Boxtops
The PTA is collecting the Boxtops for Education which gives funds back to our school. There will be collection boxes on the 1st and 4th floors. We would appreciate your support in collecting boxtops of items like cereal boxes, cleaning items, etc. Look for this logo on your purchased goods.
