Sophie from Bury Local Links had a lot of fun this month taking part in the Suffolk Year of Walking promotional video.

She was able to walk the route from Bury St Edmunds Train Station to West Suffolk House and introduce the 'Green' Walking route along the way.

This month we have introduced a new Walking Routes page to our Website which is updated with new circular walking routes every week from 15 minutes - 1 hour by using Walk It - where you can track your location & calories burnt en route. Perfect for lunch breaks to get you away from the office.

Bury Local Links Case Study- O Seaman & Son Ltd

With 22 Employees in their Head Office, taking advantage of the Travel Plan Grant Scheme is something that O Seaman & Son have used here in their Thurston Office in Bury St Edmunds.

Glenn King, the Project Coordinator, felt that the new facility sends out a positive message to staff- showing that an increase in an active lifestyle can be achieved.

The premises at Thurston were designed with 'Green' credentials in mind and has won awards for its foresight, including the Silver Carbon Charter Award. Read more

Why We Should Walk More

The 2011 census data shows that 40% of Bury St Edmunds workforce is derived from the town itself.  Over 10,000 of the estimated 26,000 working population only moves between wards, from home to workplace.

These distances across the town indicate that sustainable travel with Bury is considered to be a viable alternative to using the car.

The census data also allows for the method of travel to work to be identified and analysed.  For Bury St Edmunds 50% of internal movements are by car.

Sustainable travel is also good for us. It can help to reduce stress and feel less strained in the morning before the working day. Contact us to find various methods of sustainable transport which could benefit your workforce and to find out how we can help your business.
